Well, Pearl girls, it’s been the strangest spring and summer of my life, what about yours? We’ve had to go from our normal job and family routines to being shut in a lot more than we are used to, to acting as homeschool teachers, friends, entertainment, referee, creative geniuses to keep our kids educated, our jobs going, our marriages intact and our friendships alive! Our hearts go out to anyone of you who lost someone or whose lives and jobs and businesses have been affected by this terrible virus. Life changed for us all in an instant!
Whew...above all else, we really have had to be flexible and adaptable, and come to think of it, those are the very skills, along with faith, that will see us through our whole lives, so in a way, this Covid pandemic acts as a reminder to us that things can change IN AN INSTANT! And that we need to be flexible enough to adapt and change right along with extraneous forces, while still keeping our core intact: keeping our belief system, our faith in God and each other strong.
And...all things considered, I think we can be forgiven for being kind of over it all! Because we’ve been at home, we’ve worn the pjs and sweats, we’ve missed weddings, funerals and everything in between and this fall, we are ready to just buy something cute, go out somewhere, ANYWHERE, to have a bit of fun. Covid is still here, and we have to be smart, but we also need some time to refresh and feel a bit more normal too.
Fashion still exists in the world, odd though it may sound. Owning a boutique, we’ve had our challenges dealing with pandemic related issues, too. We opened our brick and mortar store and had an amazing grand opening on March 1 (yeah, I know) and were shut down by local mandate on March 12! We tried to do curbside, and of course online, and it might not surprise you to hear that our biggest sellers for a while were our quarantine selfie shirts and pajama pants and slippers! With the Los Angeles fashion district pretty much shut down, getting things we ordered was rough, and supply chain disruption is still a thing, so we ordered pretty big for fall for fear a lot of it would be gobbled up as it came in this year.
So, ladies, we are on the cusp of fall and holiday season, and we are seeing trends, some carried over from last year, some new. Color block sweaters, which were HOT last winter, are still very much in style for 2020, and wide or bell sleeve sweaters are huge this fall too. Fashion this fall dictates lots of relaxed sweaters (and who doesn’t love a relaxed sweater, ESPECIALLY after all the COVID cooking and eating, right?) in creams and ivories, lots of moody crimson reds and olives and leopard still reigns supreme.
I think we’re all looking for COMFORT and we’ve got that in spades, in our cable knit sweaters, in our Yellowstone TV series inspired native cardigans, in our washed black jeans and fleece lined skater booties, in our leopard print beanies and comfy loungewear...just a desire to relax, be comfy and look cute this season. We’re right there with you and it’s our honor to bring clothes you want to wear, that will make you happy. Thank you so much for supporting our small business through this tough season for us all. Remember, no grit, no Pearl!
Here’s to a better fall season, Pearls. Hang in there, you’re amazing and you‘ve got this!
Xoxo
